An illustrated field journal

Somewhere
closer to quiet.

Small observations from open landscapes. A collection of original illustrations and notes on light, water, and taking the longer way home.

From the journal

Three quiet studies
Landscape · 4 minute read

A slower way through the mountains

There is a different sense of distance on a walking path. Follow a ridge, pause at the turn, and let the next view arrive in its own time.

Coast · 3 minute read

Where the land meets the tide

The coastline changes every hour. Lines left in the sand become a quiet record of the water, until the next tide starts the page again.

Woodland · 5 minute read

Learning to notice the light

Look beyond the path and the forest becomes a study in small details: reflected green, a warm patch of sunlight, the shape of an old branch.

About this collection

Room to look a little longer.

Northbound is a small independent collection of illustrated landscapes and field notes. Every scene on this page is an original digital illustration, made to explore colour, atmosphere and a sense of place.

Why illustrations?

Drawing allows a landscape to become a memory rather than a coordinate. These studies are inspired by familiar shapes in nature, without claiming a particular location.

A note on travelling slowly

Choose a shorter route, carry what you need, and leave space for the unexpected. Often the most memorable part of a journey is a place you almost passed.
